Constitution

THE MIDLAND GOLFERS’ ALLIANCE CONSTITUTION AND RULES

Title

  1. The Alliance shall be called “THE MIDLAND GOLFERS’ ALLIANCE”.
  1. The object of the Alliance is to enable male amateur and professional golfers in Angus, Fife, Perthshire, Kinross and Clackmannan to engage in competitive golf during the period September to April inclusive, and promote the interest of the game in general.

MEMBERSHIP

  1. Membership shall be open to male amateurs who are members of recognised golf clubs in Angus, Fife, Perthshire. Kinross and Clackmannan, and to professionals and professionals’ assistants in the same area. subject to election by the Committee. No candidate under 15 years of age will be admitted. The maximum handicap allowed by the Alliance shall not exceed 14.
  1. There will be an entry fee of £60 The Annual Subscription shall be £60 for amateurs, professionals and professionals’ assistants, and is payable by in each year.

If unpaid by a date issued by committee the member shall cease to be a member of the Alliance, and his name shall be removed from the Register of Members.

  1. The Committee shall have the power to elect to Honorary Life Membership such persons they consider have merited the honour for special service or unique distinction; such persons who have previously been members and shall continue to have ordinary members’ privileges.

MANAGEMENT AND MEETINGS

  1. The Office-Bearers shall consist of a Captain (Amateur), Vice-Captain, Match Secretary, Membership Secretary and Treasurer, and a Committee not exceeding 12 members, who shall be elected each year at the Annual General Meeting. Four members shall form a quorum.
  1. The Annual General Meeting will be held each year at the conclusion of the final competition of the season in March or April.
  1. The Committee, who shall hold meetings each month during the season, shall be vested with the entire management of the Alliance, and shall have all powers necessary for the full and efficient conduct of its affairs in terms of the Constitution and Rules.
  1. The Match Secretary, Membership Secretary and Treasurer shall keep full and correct -minutes of ail meetings; shall receive and disburse all monies due to and by the Alliance; shall keep correct accounts and books; showing the financial affairs and intromissions of the Alliance; shall arrange all competitions and matches as fixed by the Committee; and shall record the results thereof.
  1. At all meetings of members and Committee the Captain, or whom failing, the Vice-Captain, shall take the chair, and failing both of these, the meeting shall elect a chairman. At all meetings the voice of the majority shall prevail and the Chairman shall have in addition to his deliberative vote a casting vote in cases of equality.
  1. The rules shall not be altered, except at the Annual General Meeting or at a Special General Meeting called for the purpose, and intimation of the proposed alteration must be given in the circular calling the meeting and such alteration must be affirmed by a majority of at least two thirds of the members present and voting. Any member desiring to move an alteration of the Rules at the Annual General Meeting, or at a Special General Meeting, must intimate the terms of his motion to the committee in writing at least 14 days before the date fixed for the Annual General Meeting.

Each week we will award points to the top 25 players in both scratch & handicap as follows

6th place 20 Points 19th place 7 Points

9th place 17 Points 22nd place 4 Points
10th place 16 Points 23rd place 3 Points
11th place 15 Points 24th place 2 Points
12th place 14 Points 25th place 1 Point
13th place 13 Points

 

You will also be awarded an appearance point for playing but you MUST enter a score in the computer even an NR

There will be a points list for Scratch & Handicap and depending on the amount of players each week but the proposed fund is as follows, please note this is subject to change and also depends on weekly attendances, the more of you who play the more we pay!

Only one prize will be awarded per player

To qualify for the bonus pool you must play in at least one Pro-Am

It starts with the first meeting and finishes at the Championship & McQueen Shield

If you play in the 36 Hole Championship you will be awarded points for both rounds
